BlueCity Challenge (Lab)

The BlueCity Circular Challenge is a competition between teams of students and young professionals to find solutions for concrete circular issues in the city of Rotterdam organizations. All cases will be related to residual flows.

During a period of 6 weeks, competitors will develop a waste solution with a team. This solution includes a tangible visualization and a detailed business case.

Planning BlueCity Challenge

  • (Week 1) Kickoff May 29, 2017
    During the graduation the participants get to know each other.
    The companies will present their case and of course, the teams can ask all the questions they have. The teams will follow a short master class do’s & don’ts of a good business
  • (Week 3) Solutions June, 2017
    After two weeks, the teams will present their solutions to the companies
  • (Week 4) Workshops Juni 2017
    It’s workshop day.
    Experts (entrepreneurs, bankers, designers, etc.) will educate you in workshops on how to get a business plan and to tangible visualization.
    There is also plenty of room for the teams to tailor the experts.
  • (Week 5) Final check July 2017
    After five weeks, there is a final moment to check the solutions with the organizations and the experts.
  • (Week 6) BlueCity Circular Night July 7, 2017
    After six weeks, the BlueCity Circular Night ends with a final challenge
    The teams will present their solutions, business cases and tangible visualizations to the jury and the larger audience.
    The jury will choose a winner after a mature summit.

After the final, the BlueCity Circular Challenge is not over yet.

Together with the partners, we will go on with the most successful teams. The result of this can be a startup within BlueCity. A unique opportunity for the participants to get a quick start, and for companies to turn their waste stream into a valuable product.
