Boyan Slat raises two million dollar to clean up the ‘plastic soup’
Boyan Slat extracts 7,250.000 tons of plastic out of the oceans with this innovation in 5 years.
Dutch TU/Delft student Boyan Slat has raised $ 2 million to clean up the ‘plastic soup’ in the sea. With this money he is going to build a prototype of a device that sweeps up the mess together.
The system Slat (20) devised consists of 100 kilometer-long floating arms in V-shaped catching the plastic which will be brought ashore recycling. His project ‘Ocean Cleanup‘ attracted considerable attention. And so did the crowdfunding, which he himself set up completely in Kickstarter–style.
