Storage Prices Dropping

McKinsey research energy storage

Storage can benefit utilities by helping them to address the challenges of planning and operating the grid in markets where loads are expected to be flat or falling.

Storage prices are dropping much faster than anyone expected, according to McKinsey.

Energy battery prices are falling rapidly, allowing new combinations of solar, wind, and energy storage to “outcompete” the costs of coal and natural gas plants.

LeydenJar battery breakthrough with pure silicon anodes

LeydenJar battery technology

Only 3 or 4 companies worldwide are develop batteries with pure silicon. With a simple and direct application, LeydenJar is the first in the world.

LeydenJar developed a new pure silicon-based anode to boost lifetime and capacity of lithium-ion batteries. The result: the yield is a 50% higher energy density.

LeydenJar is a spin out venture from Energy Research Center ECN, developing pure silicon anodes that can generate up to 50% more energy density in Li-ion battery cells.  Read More

First electric highway

First electric highway

When the truck goes outside the electrically-powered lane, the pantograph is disconnected and the truck is then powered by the combustion engine or the battery-operated electric motor.

The first electric highway of the world is developed in Sweden.

The first part of an electric highway is ready to use. This project is the result of the collaboration between Siemens and Scania.

It’s a two-kilometer stretch of freeway in central Sweden with power lines stretched over the righthand lane.
