This new dike block is a concrete pillar that contributes to the strengthening of the sea dikes and the banks along rivers.

A dike that is reinforced with this dike pillars can – even if he is in direct contact with the sea – withstand the worst storms.

A major advantage of the HillBlock is its low weight. The block has a slender neck, making it 30% lighter than an ordinary concrete pillar. This has major advantages for transport and the environment.

These channels absorb waves

Another important advantage of the HillBlock is that its slim shape strong waves brakes. Because the pillars are standing next to another, they form channels over the whole surface of the dike.
These channels absorb a great deal of the energy of the waves, allowing them to roll less efficient and less high over the dike.

Certification

The dike pillar meets the standard of concrete embankment blocks and is KOMO certified.

In addition, the HillBlocks are tested in the “DeltaGoot”. This is a huge tank of 240 meters. In this testing area, storms are simulated with waves up to 6 feet high! When the dike pillar passes this prolonged severe test, it is approved to strengthen all Dutch coasts and dikes. And it did.
